Broken Walls

Proverbs 25:28  (ESV) A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.

A city without walls in the ancient near east was not a place that would remain safe and independent for long.  Some marauding band or conquering army would sweep in and subject the people to their authority.  This passage is one that Christians would do well to memorize and apply to their lives.  The world is often not interested in our Jesus because of Christians who talk the talk on Sunday, but don’t walk the walk on Monday-Saturday.  Part of this dichotomy is the lack of self-control in the lives of believers.
